Scandal had it’s One Hit Wonder with the 1984 hit “The Warrior” which reached #7 on the Billboard Charts.
The group was founded in New York City and was originally active from 1981-1985.
The original members of the group were:
Patty Smyth – Vocals
Zack Smith – Guitar
Keith Mack – Guitar
Ivan Elias – Bass
Benjy King – Keyboards
Frankie LaRocka – Drums
The group only released two studio albums during their brief 80′s career.
Although “The Warrior” was their only Top-40 hit, they did some other minor hits including the songs “Goodbye to You“, “Love’s Got a Line on You“, “Hands Tied“, and “Beat of a Heart“.
Patty Smyth went on to a solo career which included a duet with Don Henley, “Sometimes Love just Ain’t Enough” which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Charts in 1992.
In 1985, after lead singer David Lee Roth left the group Van Halen, Patty was asked by Eddie Van Halen to become the groups new lead singer. Obviously, she declined. (Why??)
Since 1997, she has been married to former Tennis Great John McEnroe.
Scandal reunited, with a few new members, in 2004 and is still recording and performing together.

Wow – what would Van Halen have become, led by the stunning vocals of Patty myth? The mind boggles……

No-Hio – It would have been interesting. I wonder how many times she has regretted turning down that gig….
