Blondie is an American Punk/New Wave/Rock band founded in New York City in 1975.
The group was originally called “Angel and the Snake“. After noticing that men would frequently yell “Hey Blondie!” at Debbie Harry as she drove around, the group changed their name to “Blondie” in 1975.
The group, led by lead singer Debbie Harry and Guitarist Chris Stein, had a great deal of chart success in the late 1970′s and early 1980′s.
Blondie’s hits included:
Call Me
Heart of Glass
The Tide is High
One Way or Another
Rapture
Maria
Dreaming
Atomic
Island of Lost Souls
Four of their singles went to #1 on the Billboard Top-40 Charts.
The single “Call Me” was featured in the Richard Gere film “American Gigolo”.
They have released 8 Studio Albums in their career.
The group broke up from 1982-1997 before reforming with Harry, Stein, and many new backing members.
Blondie was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.

Has there actually been a day when somewhere, there isn’t a TV commercial running with “Call Me” or “One Way Or Another” as the “punchline”?
I was never a record-buying fan of theirs, but they were almost always on the radio stations I listened to. Quite a part of the musical background from the end of high school through college and my first job.
Jeez, “Long ago and so far away/When I still had hair, and my head didn’t hurt all day.”
(Yeah, I know that ain’t Blondie. I had the mental iPod set on “shuffle”.)

No-Hio – All those use of their songs on the commercials are probably making them 10x more money now than when the songs first came out
