The Go-Go’s are an all-female rock band first formed in Los Angeles in 1978.
The group was very popular and had a number of chart hits during the early 1980′s.
Their hits included:
Vacation
Our Lips are Sealed
Head over Heels
We Got the Beat
Get up and Go
Turn to You
Their most successful single was “We Got the Beat” which peaked at #2 on the Billboard Charts in 1981.
Five singles charted in the top-40 on the Billboard Charts in their career.
During the peak years of the 80′s, the band was:
Belinda Carlisle – Vocals
Jane Wiedlin – Guitar, Vocals
Gina Schock – Drums
Charlotte Caffey – Guitar, Keyboards
Kathy Valentine – Bass
The group has released just 4 Studio Albums in their career.
Both Belinda Carlisle and Jane Wiedlin have enjoyed solo careers while not performing with The Go-Go’s.
The group broke up from 1985-1990 before reuniting.
The group launched a tour in 2011 to commemorate the 30th Anniversary of the “Beauty and the Beat” Album.
