INXS (pronounced “In Excess”) is an Australian Rock Band first formed in 1977 that enjoyed a great deal of chart success in the US during the 1980′s and 90′s.
The group released its self-titled debut Album “INXS” in 1980.
The group has released 11 Studio Albums to date.
During their peak, INXS was comprised of:
Michael Hutchence – Vocals
Gary Garry Beers – Bass
Andrew Farriss – Keyboards, Guitar
Jon Farriss – Drums
Tim Farriss – Guitar
Kirk Pengilly – Guitar
They first cracked the US Charts in 1982 with the single “The One Thing” which reached #30 on the Billboard Top-40 Charts.
They would go on to place a total of 10 singles into the Billboard Top-40 Charts in the US over their career.
Their hits have included:

Their top US Single has been “Need You Tonight” which reached #1 on the Billboard Top-40 Charts in 1987.
The group was very popular on Album Oriented Rock (AOR) Stations here in the US and to date, has placed 20 Singles into the Top-40 of the Billboard Rock Charts.
To date, the group has sold over 30 Million Albums worldwide in it’s career.
Lead Singer Michael Hutchence died in November of 1997.
During the period from 1998-2004, the band used a variety of “Guest” Lead Singers while continuing to perform.
In 2005, the group headlined a reality show, “Rock Star:INXS” in which a number of singers competed for the role of new lead singer for the band.
In September of 2005, Canadian J.D. Fortune won the competition and joined the band. The group released the Album “Switch” in 2005. It would be the only Album with Fortune on lead vocals and to date, is the last original studio Album the group has released.
The Band and J.D. Fortune parted ways in 2009, however they did reunite for a one-time performance at the recent 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, BC. The group was looking for a new lead singer for a time but later since reconciled with Fortune.
Now, it appears Fortune is again out of the group as they will be unveiling yet another new lead singer before the end of the year.

Another of those soundtracks of my 80s. (Sigh.)

Judith – I am happy to report…knock on wood….that the staph infection is now under control…..no new skin cancers have popped up…..and all systems seem to be operating normally…..if you don’t count my brain…which, as we know, has NEVER worked normally……

JD has a lot of new great solo music that I have had the privilege to hear on his official website http://www.jdfortune448.com. I can’t wait to see/hear what he is currently working on. Every once in a while he offers a download but removes it quickly. I saw him with INXS twice this year and he was amazing!
