Billy Joel was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.
I have seen him in concert twice. Once in a solo concert in Portland, Or and once in a dual concert with Elton John in San Antonio, Tx. He is an amazing entertainer in concert, despite being seated at his piano for most of the concert, just as Elton John also is.
Billy Joel has won Six Grammy Awards thus far in his career and has sold over 150 Million albums worldwide.
He still occasionaly tours the globe performing his many classic hits.

He is a legend.

William …. Noel? Poel? Joel?
Oh – Mister Brinkley. Didn’t he do some music once upon a time? Something about being the “banana man” or something?

“Goodnight, Saigon” has always been my favourite. “They heard the hum of the motors, they counted the rotors, and waited for us to arrive.” God, that sends chills up my spine just typing it – imagine thinking it in the back of a Huey flying into something like LZ X-Ray in the Ia Drang Valley….

For some reason I’ve always loved and hated Billy Joel at the same time. No idea why, but probably good news for Mr. Joel.

I saw Billy Joel in concert twice while I was in college. Amazing musician and songwriter. If he toured in my neck of the woods, I’d sell one of the kids to see him again.
