Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers is an American Rock Band first formed in Florida in 1976.
The group has released 10 Studio Albums to date.
The classic lineup of the group consisted of:
Tom Petty – Vocals, Guitar
Mike Campbell – Lead Guitar
Benmont Tench – Piano, Organ
Ron Blair – Bass
Stan Lynch – Drums
The group’s self-titled debut album, “Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers” was released in 1976.
It was the group’s third album, 1979′s “Damn the Torpedoes“, that launched the group to stardom.
Tom Petty has enjoyed a successful solo career outside of his work with The Heartbreakers.

Their top hit on the Billboard Top-40 charts has been “Free Fallin” which hit #7 in 1989. Nine of the group’s hits have hit #1 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Charts.
Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
Tom Petty has won Three Grammy Awards, for his solo work and for his work with the group The Traveling Wilburys.
Much of the group is still intact with current members Tom Petty, Mike Campbell, Benmont Tench, Ron Blair, Scott Thurston, and Steve Ferrone. The group still records and tours the globe.
