I first heard the Pet Shop Boys in 1985 while in Tech School in the Air Force. Their first US single, “West End Girls” was getting to be a big hit on the Billboard Charts at the time.
Within a few months, I was stationed in England and quickly discovered that the popular duo was HUGE in their native country, and rightfully so.
I spent the next 3 years in England enjoying countless hits by the Pet Shop Boys and still enjoy hearing their music on the radio today.
I can honestly say that they are my all-time favorite British Electronic Dance Pop Duo out of the endless list of great British Electronic Dance Pop Duo’s in musical history………(is there such a list?)
The duo, Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, formed the band in 1981 and are still together and performing today, 30 years later.
Some of their classic hits include:
West End Girls
Opportunities (Let’s make lots of Money)
Suburbia
What have I done to deserve this?
It’s a Sin
Rent
Always on my Mind
Domino Dancing
and many others…..
My personal favorite: It’s a Sin
Having sold over 100 million albums worldwide over the course of their career, they are one of the most successful duo’s in Music History.
To date, the duo has released 10 Studio Albums in their career.
They have been nominated for 6 Grammy Awards.

I like ‘It’s A Sin’ also, and thought ‘West End Girls’ was good too but it rapidly got overplayed here in the U.S. I have lots of their stuff in my digital archive.

The Brits often appreciate acts that us Yanks are too dang stupid to take to heart. Kylie Minogue instantly pops to mind. (And frequently does so, as well.)

Love the Pet Shop Boys!
My sister and I always sing to each other “I’ve got the brains (me), you’ve got the looks (her), let’s make lots of money.” If only it were that easy!

Check out their 2009 album, Yes. What a surprise that 25 yrs after they hit the scene, they would come out with their best album ever. Radio doesn’t play them anymore, unfortunately, but Love etc, and Did You See Me Coming are now my two favorite PSB songs.
