Music Flashback: Rod Stewart

English singer Rod Stewart is among the best-selling artists in Music History.

He was born in North London in 1945.

Stewart started his music career in the early 1960′s.

In 1962, he briefly was the lead singer for the band “The Ray Davies Quartet“. That band would later go on to be known as “The Kinks” well after Stewart had left.

During the mid 1960′s he was part of the groups “The Dimensions“, “Soul Agents“, “The Hoochie Coochie Men“, “Steampacket“, and “Shotgun Express“. Among his bandmates with “Shotgun Express” were Mick Fleetwood and Peter Green, who would later go on to form “Fleetwood Mac“.

In 1967, Rod Stewart joined “The Jeff Beck Group” as it’s lead vocalist.

In 1969, he left to form the group “Faces“.

Stewart’s first solo album was released in 1971.

Maggie May“, “Do ya think I’m Sexy?”, “Tonight’s the Night“, and “All for Love” all hit #1 on the Billboard Charts here in the US.

Rod Stewart has recorded 25 Studio Albums over the course of his career.

He has won One Grammy Award.

He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

He has sold more than 100 Million Albums worldwide.

A Cancer survivor, Rod Stewart is now 66 yrs old and is still going strong, frequently touring the globe performing his hits.

  1. I saw him being interviewed at his home in England I think it was and it’s so weird to think of him as 66. He was very interesting.

  6. You can say what you like about his looks, esp when he was young, lol, but he CAN SING!
