REO Speedwagon is an American Rock Band first formed in Illinois in 1967.
The band derives its name from the REO Speed Wagon, on old Fire-Truck/Flatbed Truck combo first introduced in 1915.
REO Speedwagon has released 16 Albums thus far in their career.
Athough it had a few hits in the 1970′s, the band achieved major mainstream success with the release of the 1980 album “Hi Infidelity“. That album would yield 4 hit singles including the #1 smash “Keep on Lovin You“, which is now the band’s signature song.
Their hits have included:
Ridin the Storm out
Time for me to Fly
Roll with the Changes
Keep on loving you
Take it on the Run
Don’t let him go
In your letter
Tough Guys
Keep the Fire Burning
Sweet Time
I Don’t wanna know
I can’t fight this feeling
One Lonely night
Live every moment
That ain’t love
In my Dreams
Here with Me
and many more….
“Keep on Loving You” and “I can’t fight this feeling” both hit #1 on the Billboard Charts.
The band released their latest album in 2007.
The group is still active and regularly tours the country.
I have seen them twice in concert and they put on a great show. They were the first group that my then 13yr old daughter ever saw in concert and she spent the whole 90 minutes with her jaw hanging open, and hands clasped over her ears, because she did not believe me when I told her that the band would be loud. She knew none of their songs but still had a great time. She thought they rocked pretty good for a “bunch of old guys”.
REO Speedwagon is currently:
Kevin Kronin – Vocals, Guitar, Piano
Neil Doughty – Keyboard, Piano, Synthesizer
Bruce Hall – Bass
Dave Amato – Lead Guitar
Brian Hitt – Drums

Loved them. I’m going to go back through all your posts and make a list of music to buy. Thanks for doing all this work.

Christine – If there is someone I have yet to get to, let me know…… I have a huge long list I am working off of, but really am just picking names at random on who to do next…..

Love ‘em to death, have jammed with them many a time. (Well, them on the record player, me on guitar.) Though the scariest thing I ever saw was the book of sheet music, “REO Speedwagon Made Easy For Guitar”. Now, the “regular” version of their music uses the EASIEST chords known to guitar playing. How do you make that easier?
Still love ‘em, though!

No-Hio – They can still rock pretty good for old guys…… though all the artists I like are now “old”…….. at least in the eyes of my kids……

Every time I here “I can’t fight this feeling any longer . . . ” I flash back to one of my first major crushes who broke my heart by not being interested in me. (Of course, later he came out as gay, so I guess it was doomed anyway LOL)
