Movie Flashback: The Man with Two Brains

If you are a fan of classic Steve Martin humor, and you loved “The Jerk“, then like me, you probably loved this Movie also!

The Man with Two Brains was released in 1983.

The film starred:

Steve Martin – Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr
Kathleen Turner – Dolores Benedict
David Warner – Dr. Alfed Necessiter
Merv Griffin – Elevator Killer
Sissy Spacek – Voice of the Brain, Anne Uumellmahaye

The film was directed by Carl Reiner, who had previously directed Steve Martin in “The Jerk” and “Dead Men Don’t Wear Plaid“. They would later make “All of Me” together as well.

To me, this ranks right up there with “The Jerk” as far as being the funniest of Martin’s films.

This was Kathleen Turner’s second big role, right after he scorching debut in “Body Heat“. After “The Man with Two Brains” she went on to star in “Romancing the Stone” with Michael Douglas.

Steve Martin’s next films would be the 1984 releases “All of Me” and “The Lonely Guy“.

  1. I think this is one of those ones that caught in 5-minute bits, since a buddy of mine was running a movie theatre. Have to catch this all the way through one of these days.

  2. Seems my kind of movie but i haven’t seen it yet, i can never get enough of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”, it’s so funny.

  3. Very funny! Do see it all the way through! Also, Two of Me–is that right?

  4. Laurel – Two of me….was that the one with Lily Tomlin and him?

  5. Yes, Lily Tomlin. I think it’s even funnier than 2 Brains!
