Tears for Fears is an English New Wave band first formed in 1981.
Their debut album was released in 1983.
During the height of their popularity in the 1980′s, Tears for Fears was:
Roland Orzabal – Vocals, Guitar
Curt Smith – Vocals, Guitar
Ian Stanley – Keyboards
Manny Elias – Drums
Although official members of the band, Stanley and Elias were never prominently featured and the band was often just thought of as consisting of the duo of Orzabal and Smith.
To date, the group has released 6 albums in their career.
Their hits have included:
Everybody want’s to rule the world
Mother’s Talk
Shout
Sowing the Seeds of Love
Head over Heels
Advice for the Young at Heart
I Believe
Break it down Again
Their top US Hits have been “Everybody Want’s to rule the World“, and “Shout“, both of which hit #1 on the Billboard Charts.
The group has sold over 25 Million Albums worldwide in the course of their career.
Curt Smith parted ways with the band through much of the 1990′s while Orzabal continued to tour using the “Tears for Fears” name. The pair reunited in 2000 and have been performing as a duo as “Tears for Fears” ever since.
The group’s most recent album was released in 2004.
The group is still active, having recently toured the globe in 2010 with fellow 80′s group “Spandau Ballet“.

“Head Over Heels” didn’t make #1? Jeez, you couldn’t go ANYWHERE around Chicago without hearing that song on radios, in music stores, heck even as Muzak! (Yech!)
